The Puppies Are Born!

Vickie
and I have been raising dogs together for nine years.
Both of us have grown up with a multitude of different
breeds which has fostered a love of all animals in each
of us. We began our life together with Poe our long-haired,
male, Akita and things grew from there. We never would
have thought we would become breeders until Shauna of
Castleguard Cane Corso sent us our first Cane Corso, Tuco.
He was so magnificent that we knew this was for us. Tuco
led us to the protection training field and excelled at
the work; we dove in after him and have had so much fun
with this breed ever since.
Although we both have full
time jobs that pay the bills, we both also have a full
time second job as well. Raising our dogs in a responsible
manner is quite a lot of work. Outside of our jobs, these
guys are our life! We pour incredible amounts of time
and effort, not to mention money, into making sure our
animals are all well cared for both physically and mentally.
And our dogs aren't the only ones, we train the dogs of
our friends and family so that they can realize the harmony
that we do with our own dogs. We donate to charity and
organize charitable events whenever it is possible. The
duel with Guido, shown on our videos page, raised over
$600 dollars for Cane Corso rescue. We are also members
of the Breeder's Guild for the Cane Corso Association
of America (CCAA), this means health testing, contractual
guarantees, temperament titles, microchipping, and client-club
memberships.
I, that's me up there on
the left, am deeply passionate about the Cane Corso breed and
we are moving forward every day to advance our involvement,
enhance our knowledge and skills, and hopefully, better
the breed through our efforts.
These are our other, off-breed
doggies:

Poe
is our male, long-haired Akita. He is one of the
sweetest dogs on the face of the earth. He breaks
free of the stigma given to male Akitas. We call
him the Golden Retriever of Akitas. He likes everyone
and everything. We certainly didn't expect it! His
only claims to life are: love of mommy and daddy,
and lazing about the house and yard. Well, of course,
God forbid you break the leash out, or say, “Poe,
you ready to…go hiking…go camping…go
to the store…?”

Nina
is our female Akita. Most people mistake her for
a male upon meeting her. She is large and in charge,
LOL! Perfect in almost every respect, she is the
light of our lives. She is our stress breaker. Upon
coming home from a bad day, her greeting on the
other side of the front door washes it all away.
She has a smile that just makes everything bad disappear.
We wish a dog like Nina upon everyone at least once
in their lives.

Frodo
is our Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Poor guy lives in a
house of giants and bears the attitude to prove
it! Vickie wanted a small dog to fawn over so I
got her Frodo for Christmas one year. We intended
for him to be a pet, and he is but, little did we
know he would have turned out to be such a great
example of his breed. Not only in type but, mostly
in temperament. We are convinced that this little
sucker could have been a real, working, cattle dog.
Oh well, so many dogs, so little time!
